Google expanded Veo's integration into YouTube Shorts, giving creators the ability to generate short-form video clips directly within the YouTube mobile app using text prompts. Creators can now type a scene description, generate a video, and post it to Shorts without leaving the platform or using external tools. The feature targets the 2 billion monthly active Shorts viewers and the 70+ million creators who upload daily. Early testing shows creators using AI-generated clips for intros, transitions, and b-roll when live footage isn't available. Longer videos (up to 60 seconds) are available for YouTube Premium subscribers. The feature is rolling out globally with strong initial uptake in India and Brazil—markets where smartphone-only content creation dominates—with Southeast Asia expansion planned for May 2026.
