ByteDance Opens Seedance 2.0 API Beta: The First AI Video Model to Natively Generate Synchronized Audio
ByteDance opened public developer beta access to the Seedance 2.0 API on April 14 via its BytePlus ModelArk platform—making the world's highest-ranked AI video generation model available to developers for commercial testing. Seedance 2.0 holds Elo 1,351 for image-to-video and Elo 1,269 for text-to-video on the Artificial Analysis Video Arena leaderboard, placing it first globally ahead of Kling 3.0, Google Veo 3, and OpenAI Sora 2. The standout feature: Seedance 2.0 is the first major AI video model to natively generate synchronized audio in the same generation pass as video—not added in post-production. The model accepts text, image, audio, and video as inputs and supports cross-scene continuity for multi-shot storytelling up to 1080p resolution. Use case: a marketing team types one prompt and receives a fully produced product ad with synced voiceover, ambient sound, and background music. For international markets, Seedance is already integrated into CapCut with a priority rollout in Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam—regions where smartphone-only content creation dominates. Note: global API access in North America and Europe remains restricted due to unresolved copyright disputes with major Hollywood studios following cease-and-desist letters from Disney and Paramount earlier in 2026; developers should verify current regional availability at BytePlus.
